Append to the clipboard with CUT APPEND

To better understand this trick it is suggested that to see the clipboard trick first

In previous Trick we saw how we can use multiple clipboards and how we can edit same, but sometime we need to copy the multiple contents to single clipboard and then paste it all in one go. Is this possible in mainframe world?

Solution: - Yes, “CUT APPEND” can help you on this. As name suggest, this command will append (add in end) the content to already copied clipboard content. For example I want to copy few lines from FILE1 and few line form FILE2 and then PASTE it all in FILE3.

To achieve this

We can first issue CUT command for selected lined in FILE1

We can issue “CUT APPEND” on selected lines in FILE2.

Now since clipboard has both of these contents from FILE1 and FILE2, I can directly issue PASTE command.

This becomes very helpful when we have to copy paste multiple contents.

Similarly for named clipboards (refer the clipboard trick), I can pass “CUT APPEND CLIP2”. Here, ”CLIP2” is named clipboard.

Once we pass above command I can see lines were appended to Clipboard “CLIP2”
