Module 5: CICS BMS and Screens

DFHMDI

What DFHMDI does

  • DFHMDI defines one map inside a mapset - code it once per map.
  • Its label (1 to 7 characters) is the map name you use in the COBOL program on SEND MAP and RECEIVE MAP.
  • It is coded after the DFHMSD macro and before that map's DFHMDF macros.
  • A mapset with two screens (for example a key map and a data map) has two DFHMDI macros.

Parameters

  • SIZE=(lines, columns): the size of the map - for example SIZE=(24,80) for a full 3270 screen.
  • LINE: the line number on the screen where the map starts (usually 1).
  • COLUMN: the column number on the screen where the map starts (usually 1).
  • CTRL: control options for this map - FREEKB frees the keyboard after each output operation, ALARM sounds the audio alarm.

DFHMDI versus DFHMSD

  • DFHMSD sets defaults for the whole mapset; DFHMDI can override them for one map.
  • If CTRL is not coded on DFHMSD, code it on DFHMDI for the individual maps that need it.
  • Always code FREEKB (on DFHMSD or DFHMDI) so the user's keyboard is unlocked after the map is sent.
  • Example:-
    INQMAP1 DFHMDI SIZE=(24,80), X LINE=1, X COLUMN=1
