Autocomplete dataset names with AUTOTYPE

Is it possible to auto complete name of dataset we are typing?

Solution

- Yes, this kind of feature is available in mainframe. Below is how

Go to option 3.4

Go to KEYS setup by typing KEYS in command line and then press enter

Keylist utility will be displayed, setup any key for “AUTOTYPE” function. As shown below we have setup AUTOTYPE for key F6

Screenshot 1

Once setup is done, on typing partial name of dataset and then pressing respective key for AUTOTYPE (in my case F6) will auto complete name of dataset. You can press that key multiple times to get next sequence of dataset having similar initials

Note

This feature does not work with GDGs & VSAM file
